Choosing IPO
When scoping the aim of my education I considered several options like the Design Academy, IPO in different cities and options like Human technology. Weighing the soft and hard side of product design I ended up choosing the relatively hard direction of Industrial Product Design. The main reason for this choice is the need to train myself to turn the cloud castles in my mind into real tangible impact. The moto of IPO Zwolle was ‘Feet on the ground, head in the clouds’ which fitted me quite well.
Studying IPO
The first 2 years of my education in Zwolle where all about spreading wings. During this time of exploration, I particularly enjoyed my year in the board of the Student association asv. ZHTC and working for charities such as Oxam Novib, Kika, Aids Fonds and Make a Wish. The last two years my focus shifted more to studying as the internship, minors (Allround Design & Sustainable Technology) and graduation became more demanding and valuable. On the side I managed to use my experience in charity work to lead teams of students raise money.
Finalizing IPO
The graduation project ended up being a dream come true, when I was accepted to research and develop Truly Wireless earbuds for the Dutch company Dopple. Focusing on Consumer acceptance, research and product development I am happy to look back on a very interesting and successful well graded (9) project.
Moving to Eindhoven
After graduation and an appropriate celebration, I got the opportunity to work at VanBerlo in Eindhoven. And so, bags where packed and a new adventure began. Now 3 years after the move, I look to a process of rapid growth and professionalization. With dozens of projects with a broad variety in the pocket it is time to look further and expand my horizon.
